100th loading operation for LNG London at Gate
25 February 2021, 15:57
LNG bunker barge LNG London has loaded for the 100th time at Gate Terminal Rotterdam. LNG London has only been operational for around 1.5 years and this achievement is proving its competitiveness, flexibility and operational benefit in a growing LNG market.
Operations of cargoes with temperatures of -160°C need ultimate safety standards and procedures. Having loaded 100 times without any safety issue we can only conclude that the LNG London and Gate Terminal are performing at a high level.
In terms of the environmental challenges we are facing, the use of LNG as a marine fuel allows substantial reductions of more than 99% of Sulphur emissions, 80% for nitrogen oxides, up to 20% for CO2 and most particulate matters. LNG is thus considered as the cleanest fossil fuel.
